Mural Designs Commissioned by Scotrail for the Railway Viaduct along Langbank Street, Glasgow, 1987
For the series of 150 yard + row of arches bricked in to accommodate a range of industrial workspaces. Surfaces include brick, stone, cement rendering and painted metal. Designed by silkscreen and collage. Photostencils from imagery redrawn with Art Deco additions from Empire Style Designs and Ornaments. Reprinted from 1813, Joseph Beunat, Dover Pictorial, 1974. Hand cut stencils and for brickwork and arch imagery. Techniques for installation: brush paintwork, spray paint, cement rendering and stencil. Planning arrangements changed before the mural could be installed(!)
